Comment Starters
When commenting on someone else’s blog you must follow these guidelines:
Comments are a great way to give feedback to people who have written in a blog. It lets people know their work is being read and how it has impacted the people who have read their writing.
Writing comments
1) lets the writer know they have an audience.
2) encourages people to write more and better pieces
3) helps people to think more deeply about and issue
Remember that a blog is not a “messenger/ICQ programme” and they are not for “live chat” or personal correspondence like in a letter or email so make sure that you are appropriate with language and constructive in your comments.
- … is always expressed using a positive tone.
- … if critical, is both gentle and sandwiched between positive statements.
- … is very specific when giving praise. This creates a sense of authenticity and believability in the comment.
- … may be brief or lengthy but leaves the author of the blog post with the sense that the commenter is “on their side” and genuinely interested in their success.
